Breakfast in Morewood

Sung to the tune of Breakfast in America

Background: Over Christmas vacation 1979-80 the University closed the cafeteria in Morewood Gardens without any notification to or input from the students. After much protest the administration reopened the cafe. This was also the year that Food Service implemented Vali-Dine.

Take a look at my breakfast,
It's the only one I've got.
Not much of a breakfast,
Never seem to eat alot.

Walk to Skibo, in the deep snow,
Just to get some orange juice.
Kellogg's Corn Flakes, day old coffee,
I'm sure that the coffee gets cold,
While you stand in line growing old.

Could we have breakfast in Morewood,
Cyert dear, Cyert dear?
We cannot have it in Kilte,
The food is just too awful there.

It was nice when we could go there,
Now it's just a memory.
Even though the food was lousy,
We didn't get stuck in long lines,
Like we do with our Vali-Dines.

La la la la etc.

You can take your old breakfast.
We want something good and hot.
Don't have to eat breakfast,
Scrambled eggs can sit and rot.

Walk to Skibo, in the deep snow,
You must think we're loonie, HUH !?
Why should we get influenza,
By walking around in the cold,
To get doughnuts, bagels and mold !?

La la la la etc.
