Campus Housing

By Arthur Benjamin and Gail Lipman

Performed in 1982
Sung to the tune of Anatevka from Fiddler on the Roof

Campus housing, campus housing.
Overpriced, undersized,
Campus housing,
Where else could sadness be so sweet.

Campus houseing, campus housing,
Something gray, matters not,
Campus housing,
Where I know everyone I meet.

Soon I'll be a stranger in a strange, new place,
Searching for an old familiar face...

...from Campus housing,
I belong in campus housing,
Broken down, beatern up,
Campus housing,
Dear little Morewood (?), little dorm of mine.

Historical Note: This was when CMU ran out of dorm space and sent people to off campus apartments (and some freshman the following fall to hotels temporarily). The best joke in this song is about the gray matter -- but since there is no more gray matter I guess it's truly a joke of the past.
